FREE Ontario G1 Practice Test 2024

Number of Questions on the G1 Test

The G1 test in Ontario, Canada, comprises 40 multiple-choice questions aimed at assessing knowledge of road rules and signs. This test is split into two sections: one with 20 questions on road signs, and the other with 20 on road rules. Typically, the test takes 20 to 30 minutes to complete. To pass the written knowledge test, candidates must correctly answer at least 16 questions in each section. Successfully passing this test is a crucial step toward obtaining a G1 driver's license in Ontario.

The written knowledge exam for the G1 license in Ontario is based on the 2024 Driver's Handbook. Exams are conducted at local DriveTest Centres, where candidates must also complete an eye exam. Ontario employs a Graduated Driver's License (GDL) program. Starting at 16, individuals can test for their G1. Subsequently, they must hold the license for a year, or eight months if enrolled in a driver training program, before taking a driving test for a G2 license. The entire licensing process spans approximately two years.

G1 Test Cost

The G1 test costs $158.25. This fee includes both the written exam and the subsequent drive test for a G2 license. An additional fee of $15.75 is required for retaking the knowledge test, if necessary.
